Highly experienced and accomplished IT Professional with a broad range of domestic and international experience in planning, analysis, and implementation of Information Systems supported by graduate degrees in Management and Information Technology. A recipient of over 30 professional and technical certifications. Emphasis on Microsoft SharePoint as a Knowledge Management instrument, IT and Technical Project Management, and the use of Microsoft Project (both client and server) as an Enterprise Scheduling and Tracking tool.
Background and Experience
A graduate of Duquesne and Johns Hopkins University with multiple Masters' degrees in Management and Information Technology. The last twenty-five years have been spent as an "IT Professional", engaged in a wide range of activities involving various aspects of Information Technology; in recent years involved in Training and Consulting on projects for numerous government offices and in the private sector, from small business operations to Fortune 500 corporations, and with International experience working in Canada, Kosovo (Eastern Europe), Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Zambia. My primary area of expertise is in Microsoft Project (client and Server).
I have spent ten years with the US State Department. The first three at the Foreign Service Training Institute in Arlington, Virginia, then seven years with the Office of the US Global Aids Coordinator in Washington DC supporting domestic staff from nine federal agencies and personnel from thirty-six countries and regions around the world working for the PEPFAR program (the President's Emergency Plan for Aids Relief) as an IT Consultant, a contract position functioning primarily as an IT Project Manager. After State, I have had PMO/Project Support roles with the US Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Homeland Security, and short-term contracts with several freelancing agencies.
A veteran of a long IT career, one of my competencies has been with Microsoft's popular collaboration tool, SharePoint as an Administrator and Designer. My introduction to SharePoint began with the early edition of SharePoint installed as a component of Small Business Server 2000. Since then, my involvement has grown to include the design and administration of a number of SharePoint sites for the Federal government. My expertise in Microsoft Project stems from an extensive training background working with scores of Project Managers. Similarly, experience in Project Management stems from managing training and migration projects and undertaking a major process of re-engineering project for the Saudi Aramco Oil company.
Working with Microsoft Project Server (a SharePoint application) has been a logical marriage of my SharePoint and Project experiences and experience with Project Server has made it possible to make an easy move to Microsoft’s latest release, Project Online/Office 365. Additionally, I possess valuable academic credentials (graduate Management degrees from Johns Hopkins University) and professional certifications, all detailed on a downloadable resume later on this site.
